BACKGROUND HISTORY

Rhyl United Coachways Limited was formed in 1944 by 4 operators these being :-

Thomas Hudson (Blue Bird Motors) - 16 Butterton Road Rhyl,

H J Stephens - 44 West Parade, Rhyl

C & G Vaughan t/a R Vaughan and Sons (Grey Coaches) - Westcliffe Garage, Rhyl

Joseph Walsh (Crimson Coaches) - 6 John Street, Rhyl

During the period 1947 to 1962 some 20 new vehicles were purchased predominantly Bedford all of which were petrol engined coaches. The main business of the company was single seat bookings for tours around north Wales for tourists holidaying in Rhyl and the surrounding area.

In 1961 Rhyl United Coachways Limited purchased the business of Arthur Owen t/a Owen's Allendale Coaches, Allendale, 16 Aquarium Street, Rhyl (for £3,500 including 4 x Bedford Coaches and 2 properties)

In 1969 " the business " was bought by Peter Charles Evans and his son Robert David Evans.

The name 'Rhyl United' was continued by Peter Evans and Son. In June 1984 the name 'Rhyl United' was acquired by S and W M Kerfoot-Davies (Voel Coaches).
