Charles William SHONE

Is-y-Coed Motor Services

Bowling Bank, Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham

BACKGROUND HISTORY

Charlie Shone operated a bus service from Wrexham to Bangor-on-Dee.

The first vehicle thought to have been operated by Charlie Shone was a Ford TT Charabanc possibly similar to the one depicted below. It is believed it was purchased from J A Lloyd of Trawsfynydd but the exact date is not known. It is known that the Charabanc was new in 1921.

Charlie bought a new Bedford (UN8458) in 1935 and he also bought a new Albion (AUN318) in 1937 and a further new Bedford (AUN865) in 1938.

He sold his business to Crosville in March 1940 for £700 but no buses were transferred.
