GHA (Home Page)
At one stage the GHA Group had in excess of 270 buses and coaches in operation with services covering a wide area including North East Wales, West and East Cheshire including the Wirral, North Shropshire and parts of Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Staffordshire. At times their buses could be found operating at the same time in Barmouth to the west and Manchester to the east. They had depots at Ruabon, Ruthin, Tarvin, Winsford, Macclesfield and Shrewsbury. The GHA Group was made up of a number of companies including GHA Coaches Limited, Bryn Melyn Limited, Vale of Llangollen Travel Ltd. and Dobsons Buses Limited but for the last year of operation or so the companies were merged to the parent company GHA Coaches Limited.
The firm was started by Eifion Lloyd Davies assisted by his wife Rhiannon and later by his two sons Gareth and Arwyn who subsequently took over running the business. Within the pages of this section is the story of the firm, a list of all the vehicles operated and a list of the routes.
GHA Coaches Limited ceased trading on the evening of Wednesday 13th July 2016 and on the following day Jason Bell and Christopher Petts of Grant Thornton UK LLP were appointed administrators. The company was officially dissolved on 27th July 2020. The two sons Gareth and Arwyn are currently running a business from the former depot in Ruthin trading as Davies Motors and they buy and sell buses and coaches.
