The business began in 1949 and has remained a family business. The principal founder was William Kerfoot-Davies. His sons Stuart and Melvyn joined the business in the late 1960's. The two sons took over the business in the mid seventies but in the 1990's Stuart Kerfoot-Davies left the business. The business was formed into a limited company in the late 90's and today Melvyn's daughter, Michelle, and her husband Martin Higginson are Directors of the company.

The original base of the firm was in Upper Dyserth but this was outgrown by 1967 and therefore the firm moved to the current premises in Longacres Road, (Ffordd Talargoch), where a purpose built engineering workshop was constructed together with a petrol station, booking office and a small shop.

During the 2000’s the firm operated daily contract services on behalf of Irish based coaching providers from Holyhead Port to Leeds, London and Amsterdam.  This ran for some 10 years.

The company have previously operated a number of services.  The first main service was a daily bus service transporting workers to the former De Haviland's Aircraft Factory at Broughton (now called British Aerospace). This continued for some 45 years.  The firm has also provided the Prestatyn town service and the PS1/2 Prestatyn to Rhyl service but currently no services are currently operated apart from school runs.  Today the firm performs numerous school and college contract work covering a wide area of north east Wales.

In 1962 the first European commercial holiday was undertaken, this was to the Rhine Valley in Germany following this success more European tours were undertaken.  The holiday tour business progressively grew and an associated company Voel Holidays was started and today a significant range of day tours and holidays including continental travel is provided, Details of these can be found on the company's web site (link above)

The livery of the company is a distinctive Orange.

In February 2019 Voel celebrated 70 years of trading and held a special event together with decorating two coaches with an appropriate message.

Recently the firm have become “Official Coach Partner” for the leading North Wales Rugby Team - RGC  providing transport to away fixtures.
