JWS (Cars) Limited

BACKGROUND HISTORY

The principal business of the company was taxis and private hire. Following the collapse of GHA in 2016 the company operated emergency contracts on behalf of Denbighshire County Council using a minibus. Between April and July 2017 the firm operated a shuttle service, again using a minibus, in Dyserth following the refusal by Arriva to service the top of the village due to parking issues.

In March 2017 the company purchased their first coach SF53MGO a Volvo B7R / Jonckheere Modulo. This was followed shortly afterwards with a second coach HF06ETK a Temsa Safari HD. These two coaches were used on school contracts and also on tour and private hire work.

In January 2018 the company won the contract to run the 55 and X5 service involving journeys from Denbigh, Ruthin, Corwen and Wrexham. Initially when they commenced operations on these services hire vehicle were employed but two new vehicles were ordered and subsequentially arrived and they were both given the Denbighshire Council livery. The Solo SR YJ18CZL arrived in April 2018 and YJ18CZG the Optare MetroCity arrived in August 2018.

In March 2018 they also operated the Denbighshire CC contracted service 40 involving journeys around Prestatyn Town and to Cwm, Dyserth, Tremeirchion, Bodfari and Henllan. For this service a Solo MX08MYM was purchased in March 2018.

The company had a comprehensive list of tours with some holidays which was listed on their website and Facebook pages. In December 2018 to supplement their coaching fleet FJ08BZN a Volvo B12B / Sunsundegui was added to the fleet.

Unfortunately the Solo YJ18CZL which was new in April 2018 was involved in a significant RTC in September 2018 and was off the road for a period of about six months while repairs were carried out. During this period a loan vehicle YX14RZE had to be employed. In addition during this period YJ61JGX an Optare Solo SR M960 was purchased and was the main vehicle used during this period on the X5 service which visited Wrexham twice during the working day. The loan vehicle YX14RZE an Alexander Dennis E20D Dart was mainly utilised on the 40 service.

On 2nd July 2019 the company gave notice to cease their bus and coach operations with all their registered services terminating on 13th July 2019. Their Operators Licence was also later surrendered back to the Traffic Commissioner. The taxi and private hire side of the business continued.
